It’s funny how people learned to use abbreviations on spoken language, many people still use LOL but I think it is a bit old. I think I didn’t learn anything new I got 100% from the Quiz and the biggest languages are English and Chinese so it is quite understandable for them to be in much use in internet too.
I have learned a lot of English words on the Internet, I think. I think that people will learn a lot of shortcuts on Internet like LOL, LMAO and much more. I don’t think that Internet English would propose any problems or threats.
I have learned plenty of english words on the internet.People use a lot of shortwords like lol and btw.Everyday people use more shortcuts on the internet.I think in the future Internet English will change the real spoken english among the youth. Its going to be a problem in the future.
I have learned many new words from the internet. People use some of these words in everyday life, but i don’t think it will cause any problems in the future. It’s not like it would replace the real spoken english, because the abbreviations don’t work so well in spoken language. For example: it’s alot easier to say ”by the way” than ”BTW” in spoken english.
I have used computer and internet now maybe ten years or more, and it have been very helpful. And it’s good that mostly things are in english, coz I’ve learned so much english words and stuff from there. People also use lots of shortcuts in internet and those are useful and with them the text is not so boring. In the future I don’t think that internet english will meet any problems or threats.
I’ve learned lots of abbreviations on the Internet and noticed some words used only on the Internet. I didn’t learn anything new, though quantity of Korean users in the Internet suprised me. The Quiz was piece of cake. Internet English can propose some changes to the literary language and it can be a problem.
The Internet has had a major effect on my English skills. I pretty much learned to speak English thanks to the Internet and videogames, really. And some older generations still think they’re good for nothing.
The statistics of languages used in the Internet were nothing out of the ordinary. Can’t see Swedish there! Now that’s what I call proper good for nothing. Alse, I don’t believe Internet English can ever harm literal English, grammar-nazis will take care of that.
On internet I have learned initials as well as others. The most known is LOL, FYI and BTW and so on. But on some sites I’ve run in to ”ppl hu ryt lyk dis”. And that I could say didn’t sound cool to me:D Also I have learned new swearing words in different sites but I maybe better not mention them here. :>
I’ve learned a lot of english words and shortcuts when i’ve been on the internet. It’s a really good and helpfull way to learn english in a comfy way! Anyways, I think that Internet English will propose problems in the future, because we will forget how to write in the right way and use only shortcuts like: u, cause, rly, sry, coz…
I’ve allready noticed that i write these shortcuts on my school writings… just accidentally.
I’ve learned half of my english that I speak today from internet. One of the good things in internet is when u are using english websites, if there is a word that you don’t get or don’t know , you can always go to English-Finnish-English dictionary. Internet is very usefull for learning english. Nowadays , people are using all these shortcuts of the words in chatting, It’s easier and cool but in the same time it damages our english speaking it in the right way.
Internet have been really helpful for me to learn written english, and af course different kind of shortcuts. internet have also helped me to understand spoken language, because I watch tv shows etc. in internet. The language in the internet have affected to the spoken language too.
I don’t really see how it would be bad for anyone to save some time or just write quicker by typing LMAO, BTW etc… Adults usually overreact to the fact that kids these days use internet so much and internet is here to stay. In the worst case adults could even ban internet for their kids refusing to see the positive sides of it.
Internet is full of strange words for me, but it’s not a problem. It’s easy to check words from dictionary and that’s really good way to learn. I’ve learned abbreviations of words like BTW (by the way)…
Spanish language is a threat, because South America is prospering and might became even more used than chinese, in time.
By watching this video, it teached me what FAQ meant. Nearly every day, people just find more and more shortcuts about the english language. I’m afraid that it would give bad influence future to english by using shortcuts in spoken language like LOL and FYI. I think it’s okay to use those shortcuts in internet but in spoken language it isn’t that necessary.
I have learned all of those shortcuts by reading stuffs from internet (BTW, FYI, LOL, LMAO etc.)
Internet is really been helpful to me, I have learned so much english! And it’s very easy when you don’t know what some words mean, you can easily check them from the dictionary. Life is too easy today, mostly because of the internet.
Internet has many odd words that I didn’t understand, like some of the shortcuts, but using internet so long I learned them sooner or later. People say that internet is a dangerous place, thats true it really can be, but to me Internet has helped my english language and in some other stuff’s also. You just have to learn how to use internet right.
I have learned a lot of new english words on the internet. Internet is full of strange words and when I don’t know some word I check it from the dictionary. I learn everyday something new!
I have been using the Internet for a quite long time, it has been very helpful and it’s still being very useful. I just can’t imagine a life without it. Eventhough sometimes I wish technology wasn’t so advanced but i.e. searching something on the Internet is way easier than going to a library. It has taught me a lot of abbreviations but they’re not very useful. All I can say is, Internet does help with everything we want to know. The quiz was so simple, it only tests our basic knowledge of the computers. Ofcourse there are some threats, for example in social networking you put your whole life on the Internet and think it’s harmless but it may be a threat and you’ll never know.
I’ve learned most of my English from television, but Internet has had quite an impact on me. I don’t usually use these ”lols” or ”lmaos.”
I’ve learned so much, just being on this course. Social network has also impacted a little to my way of typing and word correction.
I have learned many new things on the internet. The english language is different on the internet than it is spoken. On the internet there is all kinds of shortcuts and everything. Also I just learned lots of new words by just surfing the net.
